I got back to Shoreham at 5pm, tried the waveboard, but soon switched to the freestyle barge. Next few hours were good fun, planing, messing around. Just about enough wind with a little pumping assistance. Not much swell, but good for a gybe on the inside and cheeky hops. Medium swell was appearing now and again. By 8pm everybody had buggered off, leaving 3 or 4 of us, the dark clouds loomed, some raindrops fell and the wind kicked in at last. Full planing, enough for jumps, steep little faces appearing. Best of all, in the midst of the rain, with the sun bright yellow over the roof tops, a perfecto double rainbow showed up for 5 minutes. Changed to the waveboard again, and enjoyed the last half hour in the sun. Still blowing but by 8:45 I was low on energy and high on cramps.
